Jia Ali (Urdu: جیاعلی, often spelled as Gia Ali) is a Pakistani model and an actress. Coming from a Punjabi Christian family,[citation needed] Ali began her career at the age of nineteen when she was discovered while working at a Pakistani salon.
In 1991, Ali booked a Wrangler Jeans commercial and walked the ramp for its fashion show. She was approached by members of Lollywood, Pakistan's film industry. It was while she was in Islamabad, Ali was introduced to Sajjad Gul, a producer, who signed her to play a role in the movie Deewaney Terey Pyar Key. Following the success of the film, Ali acted in several movies that consolidated her success while continuing to travel between Lahore and Karachi for modeling assignments. She has four other brothers. Her brother, Munna Mushtaq, is a fashion photographer. Her father Saleem Abbas resides in Slough, England.
